the research team

There are two researchers from the School of Education, The University of Nottingham, working on the project.

The project is directed by Professor Pat Thomson PSM PhD. Pat was for six years the head of an alternative school in South Australia and she has maintained connections with the field since that time. Since being in the UK she has conducted research on alternative provision funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and published papers and books about alternative provision and alternative approaches to education.

Jodie Pennachia is the research fellow for the project. She has worked in an alternative educational provision in London. She has interrupted an ESRC funded PhD examining inclusion in academy schools to undertake this research.
